My name is
Mandy Yeh. Being a teacher has been my greatest dream throughout my life.
Originally, teaching piano was my top option. But during four years of training
in the Department of English Instruction, I gradually switch my interest due to
the three following reasons:
1. I took the
plunge into teaching children English because of my mom, a teacher, who has a
great influence on me. Thanks to her, I have more chances to get along with
kids.
2. I’m an outgoing
and energetic person, that’s why I like to interact with people, especially
with children. The more time I get on well with them, the more passion I can
find.
3. Moreover, I
enjoy the process of teaching children English, in which I fulfill my dream. I
think I can acquire confidence and the sense of achievement from it.
So far, I have
been an English teacher for 14 years. I’ve taught students with learning disorder,
ADHD, from families of dysfunction. Although during process of teaching those
kids I would feel frustrated and irritated, still, each experiences gave me
food for thought on how to encourage them, care about their emotions and regain
their confidence.
I remember that
the first year I stepped into XinYi Elementary school, some sixth-grade
students told me they start to reconsider English as an interesting subject. To
me, that’s the best comment I have ever heard.
I realize that
helping children to gain interests in learning is quite important. It’s like
planting a seed in their minds, with appropriate soil of interest it will eventually
grow into a big tree. So, I set some goals that I strive to reach: R.E.A.P
